STOCKHOLM-( Business Wire )-Brocade (NASDAQ:BRCD) today announced that leading Internet service provider, Ownit Broadband, is deploying a Brocade network designed to dramatically enhance the performance of its broadband offerings, broadening customer experience of multimedia applications such as mobile video and TV Internet gaming.
Ownit Broadband installed Brocade NetIron MLX routers to deliver full Internet Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routing and to improve the quality of its broadband services via telephone and TV.
Stefan Tengvall, CEO at Ownit Broadband commented: “The rapid growth of multimedia applications is driving demand for fast, scalable and importantly, reliable Internet services. With our network now using Brocade NetIron MLX series, our customers will benefit from more efficient Internet capacity that will enable them to stream large Internet files via mobile and TV. This in turn has enabled us to grow our service offering portfolio and our revenues, even in current market conditions.”
As a competitive Internet service provider with more than 40,000 customers in Sweden, Ownit Broadband recognises the need to continuously raise the bar for Internet service standards and innovation. In doing so, Ownit Broadband selected Brocade to provide a scalable and efficient networking solution that had the capacity to deal with huge volumes of data without jeopardising Internet speed.
The Brocade NetIron MLX series of advanced routers provides industry-leading 10 GbE and 1 GbE port density, wire-speed performance, and a rich set of IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, VPLS, multi-VRF, and Carrier Ethernet capabilities. These routers are ideal for a wide range of advanced applications in Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs), Internet edge/aggregation routing, virtualised data centres, large enterprise core, and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
Gael Townsend, Regional Sales Manager for Nordics and Baltics at Brocade concluded: “Ownit Broadband is a great example of how Brocade’s NetIron MLX series can really add value to both the business and its customers. Social media and multimedia applications play a vital role in today’s culture and further innovations will increase the need for faster and more sophisticated Internet services. Innovative companies like Ownit Broadband must futureproof themselves by ensuring that their networks can not only offer the most efficient and scaleable Internet services, but that they can continue to do so over time, even with today’s fast paced developments in technology.”
