S&P 500's Top Performers :AKAM , WFR , CL

New York, August 10th (TradersHuddle.com) - The S&P 500 index is lower trading at 1117.36, which represents -0.92% versus its previous close. The broad market index is having an broad decline with more than 85% of S&P 500 components on the red.

Akamai (NASDAQ:AKAM) is the S&P 500's top performer this morning with the stock trading at $42.78 representing 3.96% versus the previous trading session. Shares of Akamai, the provider of delivery services for streaming media have defined support at $36.69 and resistance at $39.24.

MEMC Electronic Materials (NYSE:WFR) is also among the top performers, and it is trading at $10.61 representing 2.71% from its previous close. MEMC Electronic Materials, the silicon wafers producer has calculated support and resistance levels at $9.19 and $12.18 respectively. The other top performer this morning is Colgate-Palmolive (NYSE:CL), which is trading at $77.68 representing 1.85% from the previous close.

The S&P 500's worst performers include LSI (NYSE:LSI) that is trading at $4.21 or -6.44% from the previous close. Shares of LSI, the maker of integrated circuits and storage systems have defined support at $3.89 and resistance at $4.99. Also among the worst performers Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE:AMD), which is trading at $6.95 representing -6.4% from the previous trading session.

Benchmark crude for September delivery is also trading lower at $79.82 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange lower by $-1.66 from the previous trading session.

The S&P 500 is underperfoming the Dow Jones but is pretty much equal with the NASDAQ composite. The Dow Jones Industrial Index is currently trading at 10614.1, which represents -0.79% from previous close, the NASDAQ on the other hand is trading at 2274.25 that represents -1.36% from previous close.
