BOSTON-( Business Wire )-Boston.com announced today the launch of Boston.com/pets, a new site within Boston.com dedicated to pets and the people who love them.
Boston.com/pets will provide readers with pet-related news, tips and advice – including “Ask a Vet,” The new site will also have a calendar of pet-related events, pet-related blogs and pet photos. All pet lovers – whether they own a dog, cat, bird, turtle, goldfish or something more exotic – are invited to join the community to post photos, blog, participate in forums and view pets for sale or for adoption.
“We believe that Boston.com/pets will become a vibrant and active community for pet owners and pet lovers from throughout Greater Boston,” said Lisa DeSisto, general manager for Boston.com. “The site will also open a new, highly targeted advertising opportunity.”
Boston.com/pets will be a lively and informative forum for pet-lovers to communicate with each other about the joys and responsibilities of pet ownership, share advice about a range of topics and pet types, and stay current about pet care, all in one place.
"Our goal is to make this new Pets site fun and useful," said Teresa Hanafin, Boston.com's director of user engagement. "We currently have many active pet owners on Boston.com who trade advice on our discussion boards and upload hundreds of photos to various galleries. This site will pull all of that material together in one place, and add new features and interactivity."
The Pets site is part of a growing network of niche sites on Boston.com, including the parenting site Boston.com/moms and the amateur photography site Boston.com/raw. Such niche sites give readers a place within Boston.com to share information about their topics of passion while also offering businesses a targeted advertising opportunity.
