The New York Times Knowledge Network Debuts Fall Schedule

NEW YORK-( Business Wire )-The New York Times Knowledge Network (http://www.nytimes.com/knownow) debuts its fall schedule, offering an array of distinctive adult and continuing education opportunities, including Certificate Programs, For-credit courses, Continuing Education courses and the newest addition, New York Times Programs of Study. The expanded schedule covers a wide range of topics, including business, health, science, journalism, law and economics.
“The Knowledge Network’s fall offerings provide unique learning opportunities from world-class institutions, renowned educators and The Times’s award-winning journalists,” said Felice Nudelman, executive director, education, The New York Times Company. “From the rich assortment of program topics to our new programs of study series, this semester’s lineup speaks to the success we have seen over the years and further demonstrates our commitment to education.”
New York Times Programs of Study – are comprehensive online courses developed and taught by New York Times journalists. Each course is a four-week module, and students can select any number of these courses, taken alone or as a sequence. Program topics include:
Parenting Teens:
- Exploring the Teenage Brain with Barbara Strauch
- Inside the College Admissions Process with Jacques Steinberg
- Teaching Your Teen About Money with Ron Lieber
Science of Health:
- Cancer: The 40-Year War with Gina Kolata
- Diabetes: A New Epidemic? with Richard Pérez-Peña
- DNA Ethical Dilemmas with Amy Harmon
- The World’s Worst Viruses with Donald G. McNeil Jr.
Writing:
- How to Start a Blog with Kathleen McElroy and Jeremy Zilar
- Hyperlocal Blogging with Mary Ann Giordano
- Journalism Law for Bloggers with George Freeman
- Using the Census Locally with Sam Roberts
- Writing A Medical Memoir with Denise Grady
Certificate Programs – are designed for professionals who want to learn new skills. This fall, these programs will be offered by the Knowledge Network in conjunction with Ball State University, The City University of New York, Florida State University, Rosemont College and Thomas Edison State College. Certificates include:

- entrepreneurship
- green building design
- immigration law
- paralegal studies
The Knowledge Network’s fall schedule will also offer a rich mix of For-Credit and Continuing Education courses covering the areas of multimedia, journalism, business, art, food and health.
