S&P 500's Top Performers :RDC , CMI , MEE

New York, September 1st (TradersHuddle.com) - The S&P 500 index is higher trading at 1078.13, which represents 2.74% versus its previous close. The broad market index is having a mixed day with slightly more than 50% of the S&P 500 components trading higher.

Rowan Companies (NYSE:RDC) is the S&P 500's top performer this morning with the stock trading at $28.3 representing 10.07% versus the previous trading session. Shares of Rowan Companies, the provider of contract drilling services have defined support at $24.36 and resistance at $26.11.

Cummins (NYSE:CMI) is also among the top performers, and it is trading at $79.99 representing 7.5% from its previous close. Cummins, the engine maker has calculated support and resistance levels at $71.51 and $76.50 respectively. The other top performer this morning is Massey (NYSE:MEE), which is trading at $30.83 representing 7.2% from the previous close.

The S&P 500's worst performers include Brown-Forman (NYSE:BF.B) that is trading at $57.65 or -5.94% from the previous close. Shares of Brown-Forman, the diverisfied producer and distributor of spirits and wines have defined support at $59.99 and resistance at $65.05. Also among the worst performers Newmont Mining (NYSE:NEM), which is trading at $60.55 representing -1.26% from the previous trading session.

Benchmark crude for October delivery is also trading higher at $73.46 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange higher by $-0.97 from the previous trading session.

The S&P 500 is underperfoming the Dow Jones but is pretty much equal with the NASDAQ composite. The Dow Jones Industrial Index is currently trading at 10251.7, which represents 2.37% from previous close, the NASDAQ on the other hand is trading at 2171.5 that represents 2.72% from previous close.
