GE’s Advantium® Speedcook Technology Accelerates to Keep Pace with Modern Lifestyles

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-( Business Wire )-

In the decade since the launch of Advantium, GE’s Speedcook technology has remained relevant – perhaps even more relevant – when looking at today’s modern family:

  • Both parents work: The number of families with two working parents continues to grow, making the balancing act between work and household responsibilities even more challenging.1
  • People are busier: Working parents today multi-task 40 hours per week more than in 1975.2
  • Recession drives home cooking: More than half of Americans claimed the recent economic recession has led them to eat at home more often, but that they don’t want to sacrifice food quality.3
  • People eat with their families: In a recent AP poll, more than 60 percent of those who live with families said they sat down with family for dinner at least five nights in the past week.4

“Speed and convenience are king today, especially considering that despite busier lives, families still want to eat dinner at home,” said Michael Nerdig, marketing manager, GE Global Products. “At GE, our goal is to meet the evolving needs of consumers. Advantium technologies offer speed and convenience without sacrificing the quality or flavor of food. New offerings in 2010 will make this technology even more appealing to a larger number of people.”

GE’s Advantium ovens use revolutionary Speedcook technology to cook foods up to eight times faster than conventional ovens – with no pre-heating and no sacrificing quality.

Turning up the Heat in 2010

GE’s Advantium Speedcook technology is still gaining momentum, as if cooking up to eight times faster wasn’t quick enough. In 2010, GE is turning up the heat on its four-ovens-in-one cooking technology with brand new above-the-cooktop (ATC) offerings in GE Café™ and GE Monogram®, improved appearance in the GE Profile™ ATC oven, and increased capacity and recipe upgrades across the line.

  • Advantium above-the-cooktop oven makes its first appearance in GE Café: For the first time, Advantium technology will be available in the GE Café series of restaurant-inspired appliances.
  • Above-the-cooktop Advantium oven added to GE Monogram appliance line: GE Monogram Advantium ovens will be available this fall for installation above the cooktop. ATC ovens will come in both Professional and Integrated design styles and in 120-volt and 240-volt options.
  • GE Profile above-the-cooktop Advantium oven gets face-lift, increased capacity: GE Profile 120-volt and 240-volt ATC ovens will get a facelift this fall. In addition to a 42 percent increase in oven size (from 1.2 cubic feet to 1.7 cubic feet) and the addition of a cooking rack, the ovens will come pre-programmed with 175 recipes and an updated appearance. Elegantly curved lines give the ATC oven a look of modern distinction with dramatic sweeps of edge-to-edge glass, bold sculpted handles, backlit displays on stainless and black models, and a sleek, rounded finish.

Under-counter Monogram and Profile wall ovens add design flexibility

Just like under-counter refrigeration units have become more popular with the growing trend in flexible kitchens, the Monogram and Profile 120-volt Advantium wall ovens can now be installed under-counter.

Four ovens in one, plus some

Harnessing intense halogen light and combining it with microwave energy, the award-winning Advantium ovens cook the outside of food much like conventional radiant heat, while penetrating the surface to simultaneously cook the inside. All of GE’s Advantium ovens – across GE Monogram, GE Profile and GE Café appliance lines – will include four cooking technologies in one, plus additional features, by fall 2010. Features include:

  • A grill that sears poultry and meats at high heat to seal in moisture
  • A Speedcooking oven for preparing oven-quality food up to eight times faster (240-volt) or up to four times faster (120-volt) than a conventional oven
  • A True European Convection oven for even baking and roasting of meats and pastries
  • A sensor microwave oven to automatically deliver exceptional results
  • A warming oven to keep prepared foods fresh and crisp, with a proofing feature for quick rising of dough
  • Full-width oven rack and large 1.7 cubic-foot interior, spacious enough to allow a 9-by-13-inch casserole dish to fully rotate
  • 175 pre-programmed recipes, up from 125 recipes in many of the earlier models
