Semis Stocks Round Up - Lower: MKSI, POWI, STM

mksi New York, June 17th (TradersHuddle.com) - The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index traded lower at $388.25, representing -1.43% from its previous close. The semiconductor index tumbled with 23 index components on the negative side.

MKS Instruments (NASDAQ:MKSI) was the top performer of the semis, as it traded at $24.04, which represents 1.65%. from the previous trading session. Shares of MKS Instruments, the provider of instruments and components used to measure, control, analyze and isolate gases in semiconductor and other manufacturing processes have defined support at $23.37 and resistance at $27.59.

Power Integrations (NASDAQ:POWI) was also among the top performers, closing the trading session at $35.25 representing 0.86% from its previous close. Power Integrations, the maker of proprietary, high-voltage, analog integrated circuits for use in ac to dc conversion has calculated support and resistance levels at $35.62 and $37.60 respectively. The other top performer of the semis was STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM), which traded at $9.7 representing 0.41% from the previous trading session.

The semis' worst performers include Rubicon Technology (NASDAQ:RBCN) that traded at $16.36 or -9.51% from the previous close. Shares of Rubicon Technology, the high-quality sapphire substrates and optical windows have defined support at $21.56 and resistance at $23.33. Also among the worst performers was Marvell (NASDAQ:MRVL), which closed at $13.21 representing -4.21% from the previous trading session.

Today, the semis underperformed the broad market index S&P 500.
