Citrix Extends Its Commitment to the Mobile Workstyles Revolution

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.-( Business Wire )-Citrix today announced the expansion of its growing line of mobile workforce solutions with the availability of Citrix® GoToMyPC® for Android™ tablet. The new app joins GoToMeeting® and GoToManage® as the latest addition to the growing suite of “GoTo” services available to mobile users. In addition, Citrix announced solutions to enable the mobile enterprise with updates to Citrix Receiver™ for Android, as well as the release of the new Citrix XenApp™ 6.5 Mobility Pack and Mobile Application SDK. This full-featured release of the Mobility Pack was announced as a tech preview at Citrix Synergy™ Barcelona in October.
“Enterprises are being flooded with employee requests to support new mobile devices, especially as more companies are adopting a 'Bring Your Own Device' policy in response to employee demand for anywhere anytime access to corporate networks from their personal devices,” said Brett Caine, SVP, Citrix Online Services Division. “The new mobile applications are designed to enable organizations to simply and cost-effectively grant employees the secure mobile productivity and flexibility they need.”
“GoTo” Workstyles
Businesses of all sizes are increasingly seeking new ways to keep their workforce connected and productive without tethering them to their desks and laptops. The “GoTo” application suite strikes the careful balance between connectivity and personal freedom, allowing employees to access everything they need to securely conduct business regardless of whether they are working from home or are held up in the airport. And by creating a more mobile and agile workforce, businesses realize the benefits of increased employee engagement and productivity.
According to a recent study done by Citrix, accelerating growth in the market for mobile applications can be attributed to the consumerization of IT and increased employee usage of smartphones and tablets. In particular, the downstream ramifications of employee interest in accessing their desktops on mobile devices have made mobile device support solutions critical for businesses across all sizes and industries. The Citrix “GoTo” suite of mobile applications brings users all the benefits of access, collaboration and device support no matter what their mobile preference, giving them the freedom to break away from the office and work whenever, and however, they desire.
Enabling the Mobile Enterprise
Citrix is empowering users with increasingly mobile workstyles and enabling the personal cloud, while giving IT the solutions needed to deliver anytime, anywhere access to desktops, applications and data. New additions to the Citrix portfolio include the XenApp 6.5 Mobility Pack, which delivers tablet optimized desktops for XenApp 6.5 that automatically re-skin XenApp-shared desktops for more intuitive touch-friendly use on tablet devices. Plus, the Mobility Pack provides users with a true native device experience by recognizing the type of endpoint operating system and enabling mobile device features such as auto-keyboard popup, local selector controls, and auto-scrolling. The XenApp Mobile Application SDK allows software developers to create custom enterprise applications hosted with XenApp that have full access to mobile devices sensors such as GPS and cameras. Advancements in Citrix Receiver across all mobile platforms increase user productivity by making Windows apps more intuitive on mobile devices. In addition, the latest updates in Citrix Receiver for Android include RSA soft token integration and support for Citrix CloudGateway™.
