NORWOOD, Mass.-( Business Wire )-Electronic Design magazine named Analog Devices, Inc., (ADI) Technology Fellow Bob Adams a 2011 inductee to the Electronic Design Hall of Fame. Founded in 2002, the Hall of Fame honors select individuals whose career contributions to electronic engineering and design have helped to shape and improve the world. Adams, who is known for his contributions to the development of ground-breaking multi-bit sigma-delta converters, the invention of log-domain filters, and the design of the first monolithic asynchronous sample-rate converters for digital audio, was recognized for his pioneering work in the field of advanced audio engineering.
As the author of 32 patents, Adams’ innovations were instrumental in delivering cost-effective, professional-quality audio performance to emerging applications in consumer, automotive and other end markets. He is considered one of the industry’s foremost experts in the field of audio DSP (digital signal processing) theory and practice. In addition to developing the first integrated asynchronous sample-rate converter for audio applications, Adams published the first theory of stabilizing high-order noise-shaping loops and developed the first delta-sigma audio converter with greater than 16-bit resolution.
“Electronic Design is pleased to announce the induction of Bob Adams into its Hall of Fame,” said Joe Desposito, editor-in-chief, Electronic Design magazine. “This honor is reserved for those individuals who have demonstrated an outstanding record of accomplishment in electronics engineering. Bob’s groundbreaking work during the past 30 years merits this honor.”
Adams has worked at Analog Devices for the past 24 years, and in addition to his patent work has published more than 30 papers.
