AKRON, Ohio, Dec. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The City of Lorain selected FirstEnergy Solutions to supply discounted electric generation to six city facilities, including the city hall, a water plant and two waste water treatment plants and pump stations, through December 2019. As part of this eight-year agreement, FirstEnergy Solutions becomes the premier sponsor for Pipe Yard Stadium.
"The Pipe Yard Stadium powered by FirstEnergy Solutions is a versatile asset that acts as a community gem," said Tony Krasienko, Lorain Mayor. "Lorain highly values this stadium because it can have a large impact on community and economic development to our area while providing an inexpensive form of entertainment. FirstEnergy Solutions has been a solid partner of the City of Lorain and we are extremely excited for their support and commitment to our community."
"FirstEnergy Solutions and our affiliate companies have a long-standing commitment to Lorain, providing jobs at our West Lorain Plant and supporting the community through our tax dollars," said Julie Hextel, senior vice president of Sales and Marketing for FirstEnergy Solutions. "Sponsoring the Pipe Yard Stadium is an exciting new way to reinforce that commitment. And because we appreciate the tradition of Ironmen Baseball, we will retain the name – Pipe Yard Stadium powered by FirstEnergy Solutions."
