ST. PAUL, Minn., Jan. 3, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GovDelivery announced today that The City of Plano was recently awarded the Excellence in Digital Communications Award.
Plano launched a digital communications management solution in 2007 in an effort to communicate more directly with their residents and stakeholders and increase citizen engagement. With GovDelivery Digital Communication Management (DCM), Plano has seen a 22 percent increase in subscribers over seven months and an outstanding engagement rate of 63 percent in the past 90 days.
Plano uses GovDelivery DCM to send out messages and alerts to subscribers on more than 70 city topics, from utility services notifications to special calendar updates. The digital communications management platform watches the City of Plano's website for new content and automatically sends out messages to subscribers when new content is available. This helps increase efficiency for the City while keeping citizens more informed. GovDelivery DCM also offers social media integration, which Plano uses to simultaneously post to social media networks, such as Twitter and Facebook, to increase their communications with the public.
"Using GovDelivery Digital Communication Management is a win-win for the City and the citizens of Plano. We can use it to help automate and manage our multiple communications channels, making us more efficient, and citizens can sign up for alerts that matter to them by subscribing to specific topics. The platform helps us push out information as soon as we post it to our website, and that means the public is informed very quickly about topics of interest to them," stated Melissa Peachey, Webmaster for www.plano.gov.
