CDW-G and Discovery Education Launch 10th-Annual K-12 Sweepstakes Awarding $200,000 in Technology Prizes

VERNON HILLS, Ill. & SILVER SPRING, Md.-( Business Wire )-Schools with a New Year’s resolution to increase the technology in their classrooms can turn to the 2012 Win a Wireless Lab Sweepstakes to meet their goal. Today, CDW Government LLC (CDW-G), a leading provider of technology solutions to education, government and healthcare customers, and Discovery Education, the leading provider of curriculum-based digital content services and professional development resources to more than half of all U.S. schools, announce the launch of the 10th-annual sweepstakes program.
The 2012 Win a Wireless Lab Sweepstakes will award three grand prize 21st-century classroom technology packages, which include 20 tablet or notebook computers, an interactive whiteboard, student response system, printer, document camera and $5,000 Discovery Education digital media grant. CDW-G and Discovery Education will also provide on-site training at each winning school.
“During the last nine years of the sweepstakes, we have seen firsthand that this technology can be transformational for the winning schools,” said Julie Smith, vice president for K-12 education, CDW-G. “With Win a Wireless Lab, K-12 schools have the opportunity to enhance learning and provide students and teachers with technology that they might not otherwise have.” Since 2002, Win a Wireless Lab has provided $1.5 million in classroom technology, including complete mobile classrooms installed in 29 schools across 21 states.
Public and private school employees are eligible to enter the sweepstakes once a day at http://www.discoveryeducation.com/cdwg from January 3 to May 3.
CDW-G and Discovery Education also offer educators the opportunity to increase their daily entries via Twitter. Through the Win a Wireless Lab website, entrants can submit 30-second videos and written essays that describe how their school is encouraging people to enter the sweepstakes and how they will use the technology. CDW-G and Discovery Education will post selected videos to the Win a Wireless Lab Facebook page, and entrants will be included in a special drawing for additional prizes.

Each of the three grand-prize winners will receive a 21st-century classroom technology package valued at more than $45,000, including:
- Discovery Education $5,000 digital media grant
- 20 notebook or tablet computers from HP, Lenovo or Toshiba
- 3 wireless access points from Cisco
- 1 mobile cart from Ergotron
- 1 interactive whiteboard from PolyVision
- 24 student response devices from Qwizdom
- 1 document camera from Aver
- 1 multifunction printer from HP
