ROUND ROCK, Texas-( Business Wire )-Dell announced today that Adriana Karaboutis has assumed the role of Global Chief Information Officer, responsible for continuing to drive Dell’s IT organization evolution, from managing an efficient and innovative global information infrastructure, to creating innovative breakthroughs that provide technology advances for the company and its customers.
Ms. Karaboutis was previously vice president of IT at Dell supporting product groups, manufacturing, procurement and supply chain operations. In her experience at Dell, she has led a transformation of Dell’s manufacturing operations, rolling out a new manufacturing execution system globally. She also led the roll out of Dell’s consolidated product offering system, which simplified the supply chain by reducing the number of product configurations, a critical part of the company’s cost-reduction efforts. In addition, she has helped Dell’s newly acquired companies transition quickly and smoothly to Dell’s operations.
“Andi has made a huge impact in her time at Dell, helping us to advance our strategy of becoming a comprehensive supplier of enterprise solutions and services,” said Brian Gladden, Dell Chief Financial Officer, to whom Ms. Karaboutis will report. “I know as our CIO she will play a critical role as we build on our successes to help Dell and our customers maximize IT productivity through our own powerful and flexible solutions.”
Prior to joining Dell in 2010, Ms. Karaboutis worked at General Motors and Ford Motor Company for a combined 21 years. At GM, she oversaw a transformational move to outsource manufacturing and supply chain IT to multiple integrators, led migrations from complex legacy systems to service-oriented architectures, and defined and enabled an innovative global model of systems. At Ford, she helped achieve significant efficiency gains through the use of Six Sigma methodologies.
Ms. Karaboutis holds a B.S. in Computer Science and an M.S. in Electronics and Computer Control Systems from Wayne State University. She is a member of the Manufacturing Executive Leadership Board and a past president of the Michigan Council of Women in Technology.
Ms. Karaboutis succeeds Robin Johnson, who has left Dell to pursue other opportunities.
