Sector Wrap Up - Brokers Declined: NMR, AMP, RJF

nmr New York, January 17th (TradersHuddle.com) - The overall market traded higher with the S&P 500 adding 0.36%. Stocks of Broker / Dealers traded lower, with NYSE Broker/Dealer index closing the session at $88.034, which represents -1.47% versus previous day close. The index , it had 3 out of 10 components trading higher.

Nomura (NYSE:NMR) was the top performer of the sector today, closing at $3.24 representing 0.62% versus the previous trading session. Shares of Nomura, the global finanicial services company based in Tokyo, Japan, have defined support at $2.94 and resistance at $3.37.

Ameriprise (NYSE:AMP) was also among the top performers, closed the trading session at $51.59 representing 0.37% from its previous close. Ameriprise, the financial planning firm has calculated support and resistance levels at $44.36 and $52.39 respectively. The other top performer was Raymond James (NYSE:RJF), which closed the trading session at $32.48 representing 0.22% from the previous session.

The sector's worst performers include Jefferies (NYSE:JEF) that closed the trading session at $14.79 or -6.92% from the previous close. Shares of Jefferies, the independent full service global securities services and investment banking firm have defined support at $13.19 and resistance at $14.25. Also among the worst performers was Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS), which closed the trading session at $16.25 representing -2.29% from the previous session.
