Capital One - Worst Performing Bank

New York, January 20th (TradersHuddle.com) - The KBW Bank Index closed higher at $43.5, which represents 0.72% from its previous close. The bank index exhibited strong upside with 19 index components on the plus side.

SunTrust Banks (NYSE:STI) was the top performer of the banking index, closing at $21.29 representing 5.19%. versus the previous trading session. Shares of SunTrust Banks, the super regional banking holding company with operations in the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast have defined support at $19.99 and resistance at $21.22.

Comerica (NYSE:CMA) was also among the top performers, closing at $29.58 representing 3.14% from its previous close. Comerica, the financial services holding company based in Dallas, Texas has calculated support and resistance levels at $24.03 and $29.83 respectively. The other top performer was Northern Trust (NASDAQ:NTRS), which traded at $43.07 representing 2.26% from the previous trading session.

The bank's worst performers include Capital One (NYSE:COF) that closed at $46.03 or -5.62% from the previous close. Shares of Capital One, the diversified bank and credit card issuer have defined support at $41.27 and resistance at $49.60. Also among the worst performers was People's United Financial (NASDAQ:PBCT), which is currently trading at $12.9 representing -3.66% from the previous trading session.

Today, the banks outperformed the broad market index S&P 500.
