STMicroelectronics - Top Performer Semiconductor

stm New York, January 26th (TradersHuddle.com) - The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index traded lower at $411.93, representing -1.09% from its previous close. The semiconductor index had an overall mixed day with 12 index components trading higher.

STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM) was the top performer of the semis, as it traded at $6.94, which represents 1.76%. from the previous trading session. Shares of STMicroelectronics, the semiconductor integrated circuits and discrete devices maker have defined support at $5.34 and resistance at $7.39.

Teradyne (NYSE:TER) was also among the top performers, closing the trading session at $16.41 representing 1.74% from its previous close. Teradyne, the semiconductor test equipment maker has calculated support and resistance levels at $12.73 and $16.49 respectively. The other top performer of the semis was Xilinx (NASDAQ:XLNX), which traded at $35.84 representing 0.9% from the previous trading session.

The semis' worst performers include SanDisk (NASDAQ:SNDK) that traded at $46.39 or -11.37% from the previous close. Shares of SanDisk, the provider of flash data storage products have defined support at $46.97 and resistance at $53.08. Also among the worst performers was Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU), which closed at $7.55 representing -3.94% from the previous trading session.

Today, the semis underperformed the broad market index S&P 500.
