HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- TE Connectivity (NYSE: TEL) today announced a second-source agreement under which Molex Incorporated will have the rights to manufacture, market and sell TE's latest STRADA Whisper high-speed backplane connector family.
"This second-source agreement pairs the technology and manufacturing capabilities of both companies to provide the data communications industry with an assured supply of TE's breakthrough STRADA Whisper products," says Eric Snyder, Director of Business Development, TE. "It will also help to ensure the market adoption of our expanded release coming in Spring 2012."TE's STRADA Whisper connector, the next generation of high-speed backplane interconnects, offers an industry-leading data rate of up to 40 Gbps. This performance upgrade, which is a result of the extremely low noise characteristics -- less than 1 percent at 20 ps signal edge rate -- of the connector's individually shielded pairs, provides improved signal integrity and EMI performance over competitive products. Designed with an in-row horizontal pair orientation, the connector allows for zero skew and additionally features an insertion loss less than 1dB and flat past 15 GHz.
The STRADA Whisper product family will be available in traditional board-to-board, orthogonal and cabled configurations in both 100 and 85 Ohm impedance configurations. The product suits high-speed applications such as servers, switches, routers, storage, base stations, optical transport, etc.
To see demonstrations of the STRADA Whisper connector, visit TE at DesignCon 2012, booth 411, in Santa Clara, California, January 31 to February 1. For more product information click here, or contact the Product Information Center at 1-800-522-6752.
