Steve Harvey Adds the Title “Principal” To His List of Accomplishments

MINNEAPOLIS-( Business Wire )-

Laughter literally filled the hallways of one Birmingham school, as they received a special visit from comedian, author and syndicated radio personality, Steve Harvey. Box Tops for Education enlisted the help of the Steve Harvey Morning Show to award one lucky school 100,000 Box Tops in the national Principal-for-a-Day contest. Phillips Academy’s principal, Mark Sullivan, had the pleasure of relinquishing his daily responsibilities, allowing Steve Harvey to serve as the school’s Principal.

The principal swap was the result of a nationwide essay contest, sponsored by General Mills’ Box Tops for Education. Listeners had the opportunity to write to the Steve Harvey Morning Show, explaining why their child’s school deserved the grand prize.

Angela Strozier’s eighth grade daughter attends Phillips Academy. She entered the contest expressing the additional support needed by Box Tops to assist her daughter’s school after devastating tornadoes hit the Birmingham area last April.

In addition to the visit by Steve Harvey, Phillips Academy was also awarded with 100,000 Box Tops valued at $10,000. The school will purchase computers, gym equipment and band uniforms as well as investing in additional teacher trainings and tutoring programs.
