MEMC Electronic Materials - Top Performer Semiconductor

wfr New York, January 27th (TradersHuddle.com) - The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index traded higher at $413.35, representing 0.34% from its previous close. The semiconductor index exhibited strong upside with 22 index components on the plus side.

MEMC Electronic Materials (NYSE:WFR) was the top performer of the semis, as it traded at $4.88, which represents 5.63%. from the previous trading session. Shares of MEMC Electronic Materials, the silicon wafers producer have defined support at $4.34 and resistance at $5.00.

KLA-Tencor (NASDAQ:KLAC) was also among the top performers, closing the trading session at $52.54 representing 4.54% from its previous close. KLA-Tencor, the maker of yield management and process monitoring systems for the semiconductor industry has calculated support and resistance levels at $46.75 and $52.00 respectively. The other top performer of the semis was Teradyne (NYSE:TER), which traded at $16.95 representing 3.29% from the previous trading session.

The semis' worst performers include Cirrus Logic (NASDAQ:CRUS) that traded at $20.23 or -8.34% from the previous close. Shares of Cirrus Logic, the provider of high-precision analog and mixed-signal, and embedded processors for audio and industrial markets have defined support at $14.75 and resistance at $23.00. Also among the worst performers was Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU), which closed at $7.42 representing -1.79% from the previous trading session.

Today, the semis outperformed the broad market index S&P 500.
