Sears and H&R Block® Offer New Tax Preparation Options and Savings Through Tax Season

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Jan. 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- "Tax Day" is April 17 this year, and it is one of the nation's most recognized deadlines. Even so, it can sneak up on many Americans causing unnecessary stress. This year, Sears and H&R Block have developed a unique Web page, www.Sears.com/hrblock, to provide consumers the option to prepare and file federal and state tax returns online, or in person at H&R Block offices located in more than 500 Sears stores nationwide.

Do-it-yourself tax filers can purchase their online tax preparation through www.sears.com/hrblock and receive 15 percent off the cost of Basic, Deluxe, and Premium H&R Block online editions. H&R Block at Sears also offers free federal 1040EZ tax filing online and in stores, through Feb. 29, for customers who qualify for the simple form.  New this year, customers filing online can import last year's tax data from TurboTax® and TaxAct® Online.

Through April 17, customers at more than 500 Sears locations once again will have the option to file federal and state tax returns as they have for more than 40 years. With all tax filings, H&R Block at Sears offers customers the Peace of Mind® Extended Service, as well as the H&R Block Second Look® Review. Customers can bring in their 2010, 2009, and/or 2008 tax returns to any H&R Block office at Sears to have a tax advisor review it for accuracy and to insure all eligible tax credits and deductions were claimed. Second Look® Review can uncover other preparers' errors and potentially bigger refunds.
