LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y.-( Business Wire )-Canon U.S.A., a leader in digital imaging solutions, unveiled the imageFORMULA ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV, the latest additions to its award-winning lineup of network scanners that combine Common Access Card (CAC) and Personal Identification Verification (PIV) card support with networked document scanner functionality. The ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV network scanners are secure, full-featured and compact devices designed to improve the security of information being shared across federal government networks, while maintaining information quality, increasing manageability and lowering costs.
“With good reason, the government sets an extremely high bar regarding the security, effectiveness and efficiency requirements its image-processing solutions must meet,” said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A.” The ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV network scanners meet and exceed those standards, with the ability to digitally send documents without compromising the security of the documents and information they are processing.”
Common Access Cards (CACs), issued by the Department of Defense (DoD), and other Personal Identification Verification (PIV)-compliant cards are components of the federal government’s initiative to control access to its facilities and information systems. The ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV scanners are designed to recognize these cards in order to comply with this initiative. Secure network scanning can be useful in federal government entities beyond the DoD, and regardless of the environment, it is necessary to increase efficiency, reduce fraud and protect private information.
Key features and benefits of the ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV include:
- Secure Document Scanning - The Canon ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV scanners employ strong two-level user authentication for physical device access. Document data can be encrypted and sent in secure e-mails, and digital signatures (with no repudiation) added for further security. Administrators can also impose additional security by configuring their own CAC/PIV card-specific options, controlling e-mails and security features, and managing trusted certificates.
- Compact, User-Friendly Design – At a fraction of the size of similar products, the Canon ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV scanners allow for a clear preview of scanned documents with a color LCD. Four USB ports help to easily connect the necessary CAC/PIV-compliant card reader (sold separately), as well as give the flexibility to connect other peripherals such as a keyboard or mouse to make installation and operation easier. By pre-configuring repetitive scan tasks and sending information simultaneously to multiple destinations, electronic files are easily distributed to all stages of the workflow.
- Increased Manageability and Lowering Costs – The ScanFront Administration Tool allows IT managers to remotely view ScanFront configurations, update firmware, and change/backup/restore the settings for single or multiple devices. This centralized management helps increase security and control, and reduces costs. ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV network scanners can also replace fax machines, eclipsing standard facsimile processes, resulting in reduced costs, increased control, and expedited information sharing. The Canon ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV scanners also connect seamlessly with standard, affordable card readers.
- Advanced Features –As with all Canon document scanning products, the ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV scanners provide reliable handling for an assortment of hard copies, including plastic ID cards and long documents, as well as the imaging expertise to precisely capture information. With advanced features such as Auto Color Detection, the ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV scanners are representative of a dependable and accurate capture solution.
The Canon ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV scanners also allow users to distribute document images to individual or multiple destinations including Scan-To-Email, Scan-To-Fax, Scan-To-Folder, Scan-To-Print, Scan-To-FTP and Scan-To-USB Drive. In addition, the ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV scanners meet ENERGY STAR® guidelines for energy efficiency and comply with the EU RoHS and WEEE directives, are Trade Agreements Act (TAA) compliant, and conform to Section 508 standards.
The new imageFORMULA ScanFront 300/300P CAC/PIV scanners are available immediately through all authorized Canon resellers for a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $2395 for ScanFront 300, and $2695 for ScanFront 300P.1 For investment protection, eCarePAK options are available from Canon. eCarePAK extends service beyond the initial one-year limited warranty period, saving on costs associated with post-purchase maintenance and maximizing uptime throughout the product life.
