Full Story:
EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) today announced that global industry analyst firm Ovum has named EMC a market leader in its latest "Decision Matrix: Selecting a Content Management Platform Vendor" research report. EMC was one of seven vendors evaluated in the report and recognized by Ovum analysts stating, "EMC's Documentum product still dominates market and mindshare in the enterprise content management (ECM) marketplace." The Ovum report is accessible via the EMC website.
According to Ovum, "Market leader category represents the leading solutions that we believe are worthy of a place on most technology selection shortlists. The vendor has established a commanding market position with a product that is widely accepted as best-of-breed."
Documentum ECM delivers the most comprehensive and highly-integrated ECM platform for managing the entire information life-cycle with superior security and governance. Customers are empowered to collaborate, manage, access, distribute and control information securely from anywhere, at any time, from any device. Its latest EMC OnDemand offering, a hybrid cloud deployment model for enterprise-class applications, is designed to help customers accelerate their journey to the cloud. EMC OnDemand enables customers to stay current on the latest software releases, simplify management of highly complex applications and lower overall IT maintenance spend, as the IT stack required to run the applications and solutions are managed by data centers, securely connected to the customers' local area networks.
Ovum identified EMC a leader for being a "player that has long been at the forefront of the ECM market, with a broad range of capabilities and strengths, particularly in its document management support. EMC offers a suite of ECM technologies packaged to deliver solutions for case management, information governance, and traditional content management, according to the report."
The report further states, "Over the years, EMC has led the way in expanding the boundaries of ECM by continuously adding new technologies which have gone on to become accepted areas of functionality within ECM platforms. These include RM, which had previously been confined to specialist EDRM systems; capture and scanning, through the acquisition of Captiva; and customer communications through the recent acquisition of Document Sciences.
"Furthermore, while many enterprises prefer to acquire their IT requirements from fewer vendors, there is also a growing trend towards solutions that are simpler to implement and manage, and that do not have capabilities that only a limited number of organizations will ever require. It is not just smaller organizations though that require simpler systems, and EMC is addressing this need for less complexity through its xCelerated Composition Platform (xCP), which incorporates all of the functionality required to build case-based applications for specific vertical markets."
