ATLANTA, Feb. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Teradata Corporation, (NYSE: TDC), the analytic data solutions company, has partnered with W.W. Grainger, Inc. Grainger performs hundreds of thousands of customer transactions each day.  The new Teradata analytics platform accommodates Grainger's volume and complexity and significantly reduces time associated with aggregating a high volume of transactions, enhancing the company's ability to make business decisions.

"Teradata's solutions have helped us become more efficient in capturing data needed to effectively run our business.  We're able to analyze data on a variety of dimensions at the level of detail and speed our business users need for strategic decision-making necessary to achieve our goals," said Kristin Norris, vice president of finance, Grainger U.S.

The Teradata Active EDW platform is purpose-built to run the Teradata Database with the efficiency required to place vital data into the hands of front-line decision makers, while extending traditional data warehouse functionality into the realm of tactical decision making.

"More companies are turning to detailed analysis, where they can gain a competitive edge by extracting previously hidden and very valuable information," said Teradata Transportation Global Program Director Shaun Connolly. "With this detailed analysis, companies can know what areas of service are more or less profitable, and make decisions to raise their per-customer profitability."
