PHILADELPHIA-( Business Wire )-Campus Apartments, one of the nation’s largest privately held providers of student housing, is launching the “Be Well Campus Challenge,” its first-ever company-wide wellness competition, to encourage employees to improve their health. Employee teams from seven regions across the country and the corporate office in Philadelphia will compete for points throughout a 12-week challenge. More than 100 participants will complete their first weigh-in today, marking the first phase of the challenge.
The program launch coincides with the company’s Health and Wellness Fair in Philadelphia today, which includes opportunities for Campus Apartments employees to receive chair massages, blood pressure and body mass index screenings, derma scans and a healthy food demonstration.
“The ability to organize such a far-reaching company-wide health initiative speaks to the nature of our corporate culture,” said David Adelman, President and CEO at Campus Apartments. “We want to help our employees improve their overall wellness, including how they eat and exercise, because we care about them and recognize their well-being plays an important role in our residents’ satisfaction.”
There are multiple opportunities to earn points in the challenge, as the goal is to enhance overall wellness—not just weight loss. The contest scores will address four categories: Pound Points, Wellness Points, Activity Points and Innovation Points. In addition to earning points for every pound lost during the 12 weeks, teams can earn points by participating in wellness sessions, nutrition webinars and the Campus Apartments Walk for Health. Points are also earned by sharing photos that show they’ve completed the weekly Campus Challenge recipe; signing in to the dedicated website to read daily wellness tips; and creating innovative ways to be active.
“Campus Apartments is proud to place an emphasis on overall employee wellness,” said Helen A. Marshall, Vice President of Human Resources at Campus Apartments. “An initiative like this helps us raise the bar in the student housing industry, and we hope others will follow.”
The challenge will operate through a closed LinkedIn group to protect participants’ privacy. Prizes will be awarded to the winning region, property and employee.
Editor’s Note: Employee participation number valid as of print date. Please check with media contact for the latest update on the Be Well Campus Challenge.
