The Principal Financial Group is Once Again a Top 50 Company for Executive Women

DES MOINES, Iowa-( Business Wire )-

Championing women's advancement in the workplace has earned the Principal Financial Group® a spot on the 2012 National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) Top 50 Companies for Executive Women. The list recognizes organizations whose policies and practices encourage advancement of women. This is the tenth consecutive year The Principal® has been recognized by NAFE with this achievement.

“We are honored to mark a decade of this prestigious recognition and proud of the prominent leadership of women in our company. Throughout The Principal organization, and in nearly half of our senior management roles, women drive results,” said Mary O’Keefe, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, The Principal. “Providing our predominately female workforce with the right development opportunities, tailored leadership programs and education really gives our female employees a chance to own their success.”

The annual list credits organizations that serve as champions for women in the workplace, with specific emphasis on the number of women at the highest ranks and those with jobs with profit-and-loss responsibility. It also measures women’s representation in the highest-paid and top-tier positions at America’s largest companies. To be considered, companies must have a minimum of two women on their board of directors as well as at least 500 employees in the U.S.

“The NAFE Top 50 Companies are major employers that are committed to hiring, retaining and promoting executive women. They represent a cross-section of companies that go way beyond lip service in helping women succeed. Almost seven out of 10 companies require their managers to receive training on how to hire, advance or manage women,” said Carol Evans, president of Working Mother Media and CEO, NAFE.
