National Business Group on Health Recognizes Verizon as a Best Employer for Healthy Lifestyles

NEW YORK, June 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon's commitment to helping employees lead healthier lives has earned the company a spot on the National Business Group on Health's 2012 list of Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles.  It is the fourth time that Verizon has been named to the list.

Verizon empowers its employees to "be well, work well" by providing innovative programs that encourage healthy lifestyles.  The company provides 100 percent coverage for preventive care, and numerous free resources that help employees make better choices about health and well-being.

This includes 44 Health & Wellness Centers that are located on company sites and provide exercise coaching, nutrition and weight management, and more. Employees can create their own health action plans and work with onsite coaches to set goals, and track and meet health objectives. In company locations without a wellness center, employees have access to telephonic coaches for weight management, an online interactive health portal, tobacco-cessation tools and discounted memberships at more than 2,000 health clubs.
