WATERLOO, ON, July 4, 2012 /CNW/ - A new Manulife website aims to help Canadians understand that having insurance isn't just about protecting what they own, it's also important to protect their ability to earn an income in the event of an emergency or crisis.
InsureRight (InsureRight.ca) not only helps Canadians realize the importance of life and health insurance to protect themselves and those they love, the site's easy-to-use tools and calculators make it simple for consumers to determine how much insurance they need.
The new site includes a Quick Quote feature for life insurance that uses just a few questions to provide an idea of how much life insurance may be right. The InsureRight Calculator gives a more complete analysis, reviewing life, critical illness and disability insurance needs.
"We developed InsureRight to appeal to both consumers and our insurance advisors," said Paul Smith, Vice President, Marketing and Product Development, Individual Insurance. "We've included interactive and interesting tools for clients to learn more about their potential risks and insurance needs. We've also added an advanced calculator that advisors can use to walk their clients through a full assessment of their life, critical illness and disability insurance needs."
The Quick Quote and InsureRight Calculators provide results that are detailed, but easy to understand. Along with the estimated amount of insurance, each calculator also provides a cost estimate and allows users to adjust the amount of insurance to see how the cost changes. The results also feature the cost for Synergy, Manulife's unique three-in-one insurance solution combining life, disability and critical illness insurance policies in one solution.
In addition to the two needs calculators, InsureRight also features a video for a quick tour of the website, and a Risk Calculator that estimates the likelihood of needing life, critical illness or disability insurance before age 65.
"We're encouraging our advisors to send their clients to InsureRight.ca to get them thinking about what they need to protect themselves and their families," said Smith. "When they're ready, they can then complete a full needs analysis with their advisor using the InsureRight Calculator. We believe it's a great resource to help start the insurance discussion and take some of the mystery out of the whole process of buying insurance."
While Manulife created the InsureRight program over 15 years ago, the new InsureRight website adds more flexibility and education for consumers. The site also features a mobile-friendly version, formatted for smaller screen viewing and touch-screen inputs and functionality. InsureRight.ca automatically detects if you are using a smartphone and displays the mobile version.
"It's important for young families to start looking at their insurance needs, but the process can be a bit intimidating," added Smith. "With InsureRight, our goal is simply to help Canadians get started determining what protection they need."
